About us

Ottertuned is a student-run mixed-voice contemporary pop a cappella group comprised of students at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. Founded in the fall of 2013, the group is the first and only of its kind at the university. With goals of reaching out to the community and bettering their own musical skills, the students of Ottertuned return in their fifth year as a group in 2017. In just a few short years, they have already made a big splash both on and off campus, including:

  • Regular performances at Otterbein's Homecoming, Family Weekend, Christmas Tree Lighting, and Alumni Weekend
  • Creating Pitch Fest, a day-long a cappella workshop attended by nearly one hundred high school students
  • Competing in the ICCA Midwest Quaterfinal in 2019, placing 3rd place out of 10 groups
  • Competing in the ICCA Central Quarterfinal in 2017
  • Releasing our first single, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" in 2016, now available for download/streaming on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and Loudr
  • Opening for professional a cappella groups at SingStrong Chicago (a nationwide a cappella festival) in 2016
  • Competing in the ICCA Great Lakes Quarterfinal in 2015
  • Appearing as backing vocalists on Vesperteen's "I Never Knew How to Love You" in 2015, available for download on iTunes and Bandcamp
  • Receiving an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall for DCINY and Deke Sharon's Total Vocal in 2014

Our faculty advisor is Dr. Marla Butke.
