Meet Ottertuned!

Emily Matisko | soprano - President

Emily is so excited to be entering into her third year with Ottertuned, this time as president! She is a junior Exercise Science & Health Promotion major with a double minor in Nutrition and Psychology, and loves that she is able to keep her biggest passions - health, fitness, and music - a part of her college life. Emily has been singing in various choirs for 13 years and has taken voice lessons for 9 years. At Otterbein, she is a receptionist in the Admission Office, a group fitness instructor, a Writing Center Assistant in the Academic Support Center, the Public Relations Chair of Otterbein Catholic Student Ministry, and the President of Women's Chorale. Emily is also a member of the ALD/PES honors societies and the 2016-17 SOAR Team. And if you ever need any fitness-related help, hit her up - she's a certified personal trainer!

Sarah Fossett | Alto - Co-Music Director

Sarah is a sophomore biochemistry and molecular biology major on a pre-med track from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.  She has taken voice lessons for 4 years and piano for 10. Sarah has participated in many choirs throughout the years, including the Pennsylvania All-State Choir in 2016. Aside from Ottertuned, she is involved with on-campus research, is a campus tour guide, a TA, a peer tutor, and part of the Cardinal Science and Winter Miller Scholars program. She is also the Public Relations Chair for the ALD/PES honors societies and the Global Medical Brigades. Sarah is super excited to return to the group and help create BUMPIN' MUSIC as a co-music director this year!

Seth Hazen | Baritone - co-Music Director

Seth is a junior Music and Business major with a Concentration in Arts Administration from Cincinnati, OH. Other things he is involved in on campus include the Host and Tour program, SOAR Team, Sigma Delta Phi fraternity, Concert Choir, and Opus One. He loves dogs, singing, and posing for pictures against brick walls for the aesthetic. Seth is super excited to be a co-music director this year and is looking forward to seeing the group grow and flourish!

Michael Grimm | vocal percussion/Bass - Public Relations

Michael is a senior music education major concentrating in voice and piano.  In addition to Ottertuned, Michael can be found performing with the Otterbein Concert Choir, the Otterbein Wind Ensemble, and Water 2 Wine, the contemporary worship band at St. Andrew Christian Church.  In the summer of 2017, Michael served as Co-Conductor and Committee Chair of the the Otterbein Summer Chorale.  Outside of Otterbein, he is heavily involved with Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY), where he serves as Director of the Southwest Ohio HOBY Ambassador Choir.  Michael’s musical talents have additionally taken him everywhere from the Palmer House in Chicago to the Fête de la Saint-Jean d’été in Le Val, France.  He is currently student teaching with Mr. Doug O'Neal at Olentangy Liberty High School in Powell, Ohio.

Ty Wissinger | Tenor - Operations Manager

Hey hey hey!!!  I'm Ty!  I'm a sophomore equine pre-vet student.  I sing Tenor I  in the group this year. This is my second year in Ottertuned.  I'm also Operations Manager of the group this year.  I love chocolate and sweet tea, and I'm super excited for what we have to offer you guys this year!!!

Kain Anderson | Tenor

Kain Anderson is a first-year student at Otterbein University from Prospect, Ohio. Kain is a vocal music education major. He has always been involved with music in voice lessons, show choir, school musicals, and community theater. Ottertuned is Kain's first experience with a cappella music and he is beyond excited! Outside of Ottertuned, Kain is a member of the Otterbein Men's Chorus. He also assistant directs the Elgin Energizers show choir from Marion, Ohio. His favorite musical memory is playing Gomez Addams in the Encore! Union County production of The Addams Family. Kain enjoys musical theater, spending time with his friends and family, playing sand volleyball, and curly fries. He looks forward to making music with his new friends!

Lauren Bibbs | Alto

Lauren is a freshman majoring in Music & Business with a minor of Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies! She is beyond excited to be in Ottertuned this year with her 3-octave range! Lauren was a featured soloist in her high school a cappella group for five years, has had a lead role in three musicals, and has sang with Backtrack Vocals. As one of the former founding members of the Westerville Community Choir, Lauren is now elected publicist of Otterbein’s own Women’s Chorale! She loves astrology, Pokémon, black cats, and harmonizing with everyday objects.

Kendell Edgerton | Tenor

Kendell is a first year music education major with tuba and voice. He is very excited to be a part of Ottertuned this year. Kendell comes from Central Crossing High School in Grove City, Ohio, and he is loving his time at Otterbein so far. Kendell is a member of six different ensembles at Otterbein, both vocal and instrumental. Kendell loves performing and making an audience smile.

Bethany Giedeman | Alto

Bethany is a junior biochemistry and molecular biology major with a music minor. She has loved playing piano and singing since she was seven. She is additionally involved in Theta Nu sorority, Otterbein Christian Fellowship, peer mentoring, chemistry tutoring, and ALD/PES honorary society. She also loves Nutella, dresses with pockets, and the movie Mulan. Her favorite musical experience was playing piano with her high school show choir on the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville. She is excited about making even more musical memories with Ottertuned this year!

Zach Hubler | Bass/Vocal Percussion

Rumor is that Zach is actually a younger reincarnation of Avi Kaplan.

Joshua Joseph | Tenor

Joshua is a second-year film studies minor with an undeclared major. He transferred from the College of Wooster last year, where he was a member of the esteemed a cappella group Shades of Gold and the Wooster Chorus. He’s played piano since he was three and has since developed a passion for music of all kinds, singing for a myriad of choirs and musicals. In his spare time between founding Otterbein’s nature club, volunteering for the planet, and serving as a student senator, he enjoys reading late at night, early-morning runs, and watching as many movies as he can manage. He’s pumped to be singing Tenor II this year for the fantastic Ottertuned!

Lindsey Keehn | Soprano

Lindsey is a sophomore Pre-Zoo & Conservation Science and Biology double major but is a first year student at Otterbein. She transferred from a community college in her hometown of Crystal Lake, IL. Having previously been involved in choir for 3 years and musical theater for 2 years, she is excited to be joining Ottertuned to continue her passion for singing. Outside of Ottertuned, she is a member of Plan-It Earth and the Animal Conservation Club.

Angela Keller | Soprano

Angela is thrilled to be starting her freshman year at Otterbein as a Music Education major! She has been involved in music since the age of 6 - she sings, plays flute, piano, ukulele, and more. At Jackson High School, she was a member of The Purple Army, and is continuing her marching band experience in the Cardinal Marching Band at Otterbein. In addition to band, Angela sang in Jackson’s choirs for 3 years and was in the ensemble of The Music Man during her junior year. Aside from music, Angela enjoys relaxing by watching some of her favorite shows including Doctor Who, Gravity Falls, and Steven Universe. She also is part of the Harry Potter fandom and is a proud member of Ravenclaw. Fun fact: Angela took Chinese for 5 years, and once performed on the Great Wall of China! 

Abby Shump | Alto

Abby is a sophomore Art History and Studio Art painting concentration major from Troy, Ohio, and is a new member. She is involved in SOAR team, Starving Artists, and serves as social media chair of Kappa Pi Honors Society. She has been part of mixed choirs, women's choirs, men's choirs, show choir, honor choir, a cappella choirs, and musicals all throughout high school. She enjoys listening to music, going to Columbus Crew soccer games, spending time with friends and family, and eating fish tacos. Abby is excited to make some good music, as well as some good memories with Ottertuned this year.

Audrey Soska | Alto

Audrey is a freshman Nursing major from New Albany, Ohio. This is Audrey's first year in Ottertuned, and she is very excited to share her love of music with the community. Outside of Ottertuned she spends most of her days in the library and is part of the Otterbein Christian Fellowship. She also loves reading, a nice cup of tea, and dogs. So if you have any pictures of doggies, send them her way!

Allison Wheeler | Soprano

Allison is a senior majoring in zoo and conservation science and is from Hilliard, Ohio. This is Allison's second year in Ottertuned, and she couldn't be more thrilled to be back.  Outside of Ottertuned, she is a member of Otterbein Christian Fellowship and loves sharing the love of Christ with people. She has been in various choirs for 7 years now, played piano and viola for 3 years, and danced for 15 years. Allison is a lover of nature and animals (even though she is allergic to both) and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Listen for her on the really piercing high notes.

John Michael Wright | Bass/Vocal percussion

John Michael Wright goes by many names. His friends call him "John Michael." The street calls him "White Chocolate." Ladies call him "not my type." Carly Rae Jepsen calls him maybe. And he calls himself when he loses his phone. He is a senior Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major accepted into Ohio University's Heritage College of Medicine. He sings because his heart is full of joy; he joined Ottertuned two years ago as a chance to share that joy with others. His free time is consumed almost entirely by naps, but he makes sure to set alarms for involvement with the Otterbein Christian Fellowship, board games with close friends (and strangers), Rick and Morty (the best show on TV), and Rock City Church.
